While BCA is a degree course, u need to have a degree to be eligible for PGDCA, (post graduate diploma). So if u want to do MCA, u'll have to do BCA or B.Sc in Computer Science or Mathematics, first.

My goodness......wat a doubt u got...hey man untill u clear bca u cant take up MCA....u know full form of BCA - Bachelor of computer applications...and MCA is Masters of Computer applications....i hope u will not ask next if a tree is bigger or a mountain....lol

In my opinion BCA is much better than PGDCA.
look if you have done BCA then you will get direct admission in MCA but if you don't have that qualification then it will help you.
But first get the information that what is the requirement of the university in which you are going to take admission.

u can do MCA from both stream
BCA itself a Graduate course after then MCA(3 year)
PGDCA(1 year) + Any graduation after then 2nd year in MCA
