What should a 12 year old girl wear? She suggests she has to be stylish and hip but she has school work to do and i don't want her to think about her clothes more than her education. So is there any cute outfits a 12 year old can wear that's simple and cute at the same time???

I'm talking about OUTFIT. Top to bottom. The clothes I suggest, she apparently hates.

let her pick....it gives her a feel of importance and maturity choosing the clothes she wears. but that does not mean she needs to go overboard with expensive clothes or dressing like she's 16! if she starts to show more interest in clothes than school, stop her from shopping or wearing clothes she likes.

Girls will be girls... take her shopping... let her get what she wants... she doesn't have to think about school 100% of the time... and if you didn't notice, it's summer... but take her shopping, let her chose what she wants... try to stick with things that go with everything such as jeans... and as for shirts, get stuff for her that she can have fun with, layers are in, so let her get some layers in colors that will go with lots of her clothes... that way before school she can just grab stuff outta the drawers, throw it on and always look good... Oh... and she's 12.. dont go bolistic if she wants to get a thong...
I'm assuming your her mom... so just be careful you aren't to strict with her, she's gonna be a teenager soon and you gotta let her have fun... And just so you know... My best friend spent her entire year in Socials 10 planning her outfits for the next month, she'd replan it every class... And she got 100%... girls can think about clothes and still do well... Dont be a hardass!
OMG I HAD TO COME BACK AND EDIT THIS! SOMEONE SAID OLD NAVY?!?! WHO THE FACK WOULD SAY THAT? they must work for old navy... if you buy her stuff from old navy she will be a huge loser! everyone will make fun of her! and I do agree with what that huge long answer said... When I was 13 my mom didnt tell me how to dress at all, I nearly got suspended from school a few times for inappropriate clothing... But I learnt pretty fast if I wanted respect from a guy I couldnt dress that way... Now I'm 16 and I dress how I want not to show all the other girls up... Its better not to interfer too much... Like, if she wants to wear super low cut shirts, let her... She'll figure out pretty fast they aren't the best way to get a guy... Oh and uhhh skirts shorter than 10 inches are the best easy access skirts... so for now, keep her in ones that are at least 10inches long... She's 12, face it, pretty soon shes gonna wanna have sex... and the more you try to control her, the more she'll try to rebel... oh god lol... have fun with your daughter... so many fun arguements with my mom especially when she got calls from my principal saying i looked like a whore... But dont worry, I'm 16 now and that "I-wanna-look-like-a-whore" phase only lasted for a year... Plus, less skanky clothes are in now than they were when i was 12 or 13... IM me if you wanna hear how to be a good mom for a teenage girl! I have tons of suggestions I wish someone had told my mom!

if shes 12 then im assuming she is trying to find a style that suits her well , since you say she wants to be stylish and hip im assuming that means kinda reggae or hip hop styled....thats easy to do , get some cargo jeans or shorts and some black band shirts (doesnt necessarily have to be black just dark) and maybe some nice hats to go with it , the girly kind of hats not the sports caps . if she doesnt like that then ask her what style she likes best , if its goth then a black jacket and whatever shirt she wants with some denim jeans works well . or if she likes to be kind of preppy then she can buy some pink or light colored blouses and a few denim or free flow skirts , about knee length or more is preferred to keep her safe and not looking slutty. also ask her if shed like to try wearing a little make up to go with it , shes going to be a teenager soon and teenagers like experimenting with things like that so ask her and you can buy some lip gloss and maybe some eyeshadow but thats about it , nothing too skanky , its just for her to feel better about herself anyways. if none of that works then take her to the mall and let her pick out the clothes she wants , i think if you like the clothes she picks then she wont want them so you can just use reverse psychology on it....if you like what she picked out say you dont but buy it anyways , should do it.

Well I dress more like emo/punkish, but i can still give this 12 year old girl a few tips.
Shirts: Colorful Tunnics?
Jeans: Dark Blue...Light Blue or Regular?
Shoes: Converse or Nike Air Forces?
Accesories: Chunky Necklaces..With Chunky Bracelets to match!

Let her pick out her own outfit. I mean no matter what she is wearing she is going to be way more concerned about her clothes then school.

btw for me,,she can really look stylish even if shes wearing simple clothes..as long as she can carry it!

im 12 and this is wut im gonna wear my first day of skool( and its not revealing cause my mom aproves) im wearing a cute striped or solid polo and a jean mini with those tights under neath that ppl wear now and rainbows with hoop earings and a pretty necklace !!!
and trust me its ok to wear to skool , i live in a small country city and girls wear it all the time to skool!!!!

well im thirteen so i can kind of say i know wat we wear
1) linen shorts
2) short skirts
3) colots (3 1/4 black stylish trousers)
4) any old tops will do
5) linen trousers
6) Beads to match her outfits
if this dosent work ask her if she would like to go shopping with you and she can tell you the things that she likes!!! if not give her some money to go and get the stuff which she likes!!!!

A cute pair of overall-shorts with a solid colored baby tee underneath it. Or skorts (skirts with shorts underneath). My daughter wears a lot of skorts. They look like the cutest little skirts, but she can still run and play without worry.
