change the settings , control panel --> performance and Maintenance and then Power Options.

do as nestor tells u.
if that doesn't work, there might be something wrong with the OS.
log on to windows in safe mode and use a system restore program(Windows XP Pro comes with one).if that doesn't correct the problem, call the service centre or throw the darn thing out the window.

Your battery's dead. Charge it first & make sure that when it's plugged in, it's actually charging.
This always happens to me when the battery dies during hibernation & I try to turn it back on.
