Semen contains prostaglandins that can help soften the cervix, not exactly induce labor. This only helps if the woman is ready to have her baby anyway, otherwise married pregnant ladies would all lose their babies (or never have sex)

It's the sex itself that could induce labour (and not the ejaculationof the man); however, if the woman herself ejaculates due to the high state of pleasure she attains, this could induce labour.

I think this is true. When i was prengnant (first time), I was due on Feb. 19th. It was March 1st and I was so desparate. I wanted my baby to come out. My doctor was planning to induce my baby that week on Wednesday. Well, I called my midwife and asked her what i can do to start my contractions. She said to drink 2 spoons of castor oil (which is suppose to cause you diarreah) or have sex. She said that the sperm causes to thin out your placenta. So I did, i told my husband that i wanted to give it a try. It had been weeks the last time we had sex, it was very uncomfortable for me. It was 1 a.m. when we had sex. At 3 a.m., i started having light contractions. Around 8 a.m., contractions started getting stronger. As they got stronger, i went to the hospital, and guess what, i was getting ready to give birth.

It can help induce labour if a woman is full term and the baby is ready to come out!

That's only a factor if the woman is ready to have the baby already. It helps bring on labor contractions if the woman has an orgasm.

Yes it is true. It happened to me. There is a hormone in the man's sperm which can set off contractions in a very heavily pregnant woman.
It is NOT an urban myth!

it is a possibility - not sure if it is in the early stages of pregnancy - I know when I was pregnant - and nearly due - I was advised to have intercourse as it induced labour - dont know if it worked - it took a few days for my son to arrive after then

I think it is urban myth. Maybe the sex itself can induce pregnant women to labor?
