What sort of hobby. What are you interested in. I found a drama group which you don't have to pay for and gives me 2 hours entertainment per week, when we are rehearsing. When we are performing we are so busy I do not spend any money and we get sandwiches and drinks free.

If you are on benefits you can go to a local college and get courses free or for minimal amount.

Or glass painting? Use jars and just buy 2 colours at first. Water based is cheaper and keeps longer.

As you can see, economising is my forte, I have done all the suggestions here.

Developing your own web site is a good investment because you develop marketing and business skills. For $10.00/month you can have your own web site, set up a News Publication Feed, and fill it with content.

It's a really great way to express your opinion and develop your writing skills. Plus, you have the freedom to talk about whatever you want. You can develop News Editor Skills because you can post ads and have news reporters write about content that you can edit.

I've been quite happy with my web design and networking I've been able to do. It's constructive and helps for any business ventures you may plan in the future.

Similar to poetry but you could try writing song lyrics?

Its a great way to get creative as well as expressing your emotions, opinions and experiences.

If you know of any local bands (you can find details on the internet0 you could approach them and ask them to put music to it.

That way you inadvertantly become part of your local music scene and it won't cost you a penny!

Another good one is creating you own websites/profiles on sites such as this one or 'myspace'. Again, no cost and a lot of fun!

I make amusing videos on my mobile, I then entertain my mates in the pub with them!

Call me a 'master of entertainment on the cheap' if you will!!!

Have fun.

I recommend cross-stitch or embroidery. It's accessible, cheap, and doesn't require a lot of tools or space in your house. You can get kits at Wal-Mart and do them in front on the tv. (which is my favourite cheap hobby)

Knitting, Nose picking, flower pressing, sleeping around, buy a guitar and a book to teach yourself with. Go and work for a charity shop, walking, embroidery, jogging, mucking out at the local stables.
Or my personal favourite......sleeping!

lots of great suggestion from our peers and a few that were real stinkers,....

Though, have you also considered - public farting?

I'm sorry, but none of them tried suggesting it, and it was the only one that could still be a little rank.

I confess I do it sometimes - when you just can't hold it in any longer. Holding it in only makes it ferment more and I didn't want to just explode, someone would have to sweep up little bits of my butt & carcass.
