Who knows about the Black Panther group and its destructiveness to American society?

I remember when they were in the news. They were a common street gang and nothing like the Klan or La Raza. During the sixties, some rich liberals tried to legitimize the Panthers by forming them into a so-called political party . The Panthers tried to fashion themselves as a liberation army, the same as so many other criminal gangs of the time (Patty Hurst and her Symbionese Liberation Army cohorts were common bank robbers). The Panthers horded guns and eventually came under the scrutiny of the feds. The last real news I heard was of a shoot-out in Illinois when many of them were killed.

The Black Panther group wasn't destructive. It was formed out
of need. The blacks needed a voice at the time. And with any new group or idea people get a little zealous. Some behavior
got a little excessive. And some people took their personal
gripes out on the police & other innocents.But the Ideology of
the group was right-on in my opinion.(former member).

The Black Panthers was a quasi-political, ALMOST fanatical movement that sought voice and the end of opression for blacks.

Seeing the popularity the group was acquiring, the feds (either FBI or CIA) slowly infiltrated crack into the groups, who's individual addictions and dependencies tore the movement apart.

The Black Panther group was a movement started by some african americans due the opression they faced by the "caucasians", u can read more about them in encarta or just search on the net.
it actually wasnt a very bad reason for starting, maybe they just over did it a bit and things got outta hand...........?

well, they are just as bad as the kkk and la rasa but people need to chill out on race issues, it's not 1800 anymore it friggin 2006!
