How is the US perceived by most people in India?
Our government? People?

US is perceived in India as follows:
* For IT Professionals: Onsite, lot of money, good living standards
* for Non-IT professionals: distant dream land
* for government : Super power and an awful alley of Pakistan
* for Left parties (communists): the big brother, we hate thier good and bad and ugly

For general public, its a great country, great living standards, nice places to see (they see numerous Indian movies)

Reg Government, US government has the muscle to do what it wants, Indian gov is always pulled by one or other coalation partner.

well .for every young indian US is a dream land. Almost 60 to 70 % of young guys who complete their degree in computer related professions,medical field and hospitality services dream about going to US.But we do not like US government in one thing.Particularly the leaders of US are looking after the world affairs. Try to solve your problems first. We really felt shocked when lot of people were killed by the katarina hurricane becoz of the improper administration. US is supporting Pakistan in the Kashmir problem.This is again poking ur nose in b/w the problems of two countries.
we were of course thrilled when Mr BillGates said "if the US government removes my company from the USA ,the two cities where i will start my microsoft is Bangalore and Hyderabad".
We are really proud to say that the world super power has indians as their base.

I need not have answered this, but seeing one of the answeres cited many categories but left out the neglected scientific community of India, I can say as much that we do like to visit the states at least once in our lifetime, just to work in a laboratory where all instrumentation facilities, new scientific softwares and access to all chamicals can be available. For others some of them loathe the lifestyle of US, their casual approach to sex, and some like so much that they find everything about thr US attractive, even Bush.

I think from the indian point of view .. we do job for money no matter it is us, uk, uae, aus. Majority of our people are money minded so they work for mnc and not for their own country. If they were doing work in their own country then the nasa project, gene technology, software company's might took long time to achieve what they achieve in such a fast time..

We are not interested in your government nor people we just need money. Also US people are much of a 'Manager' type they don't like to work like donkey so they employee hard worker to do their difficult manual job. So personlly i think this is demand and supply concept nothing else.

We indian respect you becuase you are making standard of living of whole world good, and you also respect us as we are doing very hard to have that...

I couldn't care less about the Gov't. As for the people, most of them seem really nice, but I keep coming across a lot of rude ppl on Yahoo Answers. I just ignore them.
