Ok I will make this as short and to the point as possible. I got a DUI it got reduced to a reckless, they gave me a $1410 fine and a class I gotta take for three months. Well it took me 2 months for me to get over the fact all this was happening to me and I didn't pau the monthly payments. They sent it to a collections agency and that up-ed the price to $1725 and now they want the whole thing or I get a warrent for my arrest. The worst of it is I work for the Sheriff's Dept in the jail as a medical clerk. I can't go to jail! It was totally my stupid fault for not making payments but theres no way in hell I can come up with 1700 dollars. So what the hell do I do to not have this go badly, like me ending up in jail. I'm not the jail type!

First, GO TO THE CLASSES. Your main issue is payment for the fine that's now gone to collection. You may want to verify with your jurisdiction, but there are minimum criteria you should still be able to pay in installments. The way it usually works is the agency buys your debt ( probably at a reduced target) then sets in motion to collect and may try to add a fee. Again check with your jurisdiction, but the additional fee could be waved ,you should be at least able to negotiate a payment structure. They would rather get paid ,(even if its slowly) than send you to jail...
good luck

I'd call the agency and try to resolve it, maybe with a payment as an offering to let them know that you're serious. If you don't have the money, what good is sending you to jail going to do? You're not going to earn it while you sit in a cell. They may just be threatening you...but I would call and try to get them to work with you.

First shame on you for driving under the influence. Be thankful that you didn't kill or injure some one.Second, call them and ask if you can please make payments. I am sure that you will be able to. As you know we really don't want to put you jail because personally I don't want to support you.

make better life choices?

failing that, i think we can all agree that since you work at the sheriffs dept that you should just mess with the computers "ferris bueller" style. good luck.

Appeal your case and make the payments so that you will not be imprisoned.
