I have a bottle of American prescription drugs that will need to be refilled in a couple weeks. How do I get it refilled while in Tokyo? The pharmacy has made it very clear to me that they can not do it.

See a doctor and have him write you a prescription. Most doctors know good English. Medical journals are written mainly in English so they have a pretty good knowledge of the language.

If that doesn't work, maybe a family member in the States can get it for you and mail it to Japan.

I went to my doctor with my Rx allergy meds. He did a cross table lookup and found the same Rx meds as sold in Japan. If you live in Tokyo you can go see Dr. Leo King at the King Clinic. He is an American.

Are you saying this is a drug that is not available in Japan? You are entitled to import a 30 day supply of a drug you have a perscription for.

If it's a drug available in Japan go to a doctor and have him write you a prescription for the Japanese equivalent. If you have kokumin kenko hokken it will pay for most of the cost.

Bring a new Rx with you. If you know where you are staying contact the hotel and perhaps they can give you some guidance on how to handle this.
