A prank flash is a flash movie which is very quiet, so you turn the volume up. The content may require you to examine something, so you look closely at the screen. Then right at the end, a scary face pops up and you hear a very loud scream (full volume!)
I must say that I hate prank flashes. I unwittingly watched one a couple of days ago, and now I find myself unable to watch ANY flash till the end, for fear of being scared. I even get scared when my screen saver comes on.
Obviously, if a person has a heart condition or if they are pregnant, a prank flash can do serious harm.
On the other hand, I can -- to a very limited degree -- understand why someone would think that they are funny. I am also aware that some people watch them intentionally, because they enjoy the adrenaline rush from a good scare.
What do you think? Are prank flashes a legitimate type of fun, or should they be banned entirely, since they can actually kill an unsuspecting viewer?
