The sata ports on my mobo are going bad, so if I use an SATA PCI card will I be able to plug my drives into it without having to reinstall?

Maybe. I'm not sure. But if you try it remember that you will probably have to install a driver for the new SATA controller if you reinstall Windows. I think your BIOS will detect the new controller on the PCI card OK. If you do it without reinstalling Windows, I think you'll have to install the SATA driver for the PCI card before you plug the hard drive into the PCI card. Otherwise, I don't think you will be able to boot Windows from the disk in the first place to install the new driver. Good luck!
