Hi there,I'm looking to get a printer to print some photos (good quality ones from digital camera), and was wondering .. as the stores have semi - glossy paper and glossy paper , (semi glossy is considerably cheaper)..is the semi glossy suitable for photo printing, or would you strongly suggest going for the Glossy Paper. Thank you!

well ..is just about how much glossy is that paper. Semi Glossy is less glossy/slick/bright than Glossy paper and the price should be lower than Glossy paper.
Both are suitable for photo quality or high quality prints.
Anyway ...you should compare papers of the same brand and not Glossy from made by RRRR with Semi Glossy made by WWWW. Look for bright number and weight !

I'm a big fan of Matte finish. It does mute the colors a bit when compared to glossy. Matte handles fingerprints much better than glossy so if you plan to handle the pics, matte is also a good choice. For the pictures on the wall, I'd go with Semi or Glossy. It just looks good.

I'm not a pro at this but I love making photo albums for friends and relatives. I have used both but it is my preference to Jet Print Photo - Everyday photo paper - Soft gloss. I just made a discovery I was happy about. Staples office supply has their Staples brand - double sided photo supreme in matte finish and it works perfect if you are making a photo album. I have a laminator to make back and front cover and a comb binder to put my albums together. This double sided has not jambed in my HP all in one printer. As far as the single side photo paper, I think it's just a matter of choice. Hope this has been helpful. Myself, I don't like High gloss.

Semi gloss is a more muted finish (similar to a matte finish when having your photo's professionally developed).

Both a good quality high brightness semi gloss you should still be able to print out high quality beautiful photos. Generally the only difference is preference. I personally like the look of semi gloss better.

It is purely a matter of taste. If you want really shiny pictures get glossy. If you want to look at a glare free picture use semiglossy or matte.

Semi isn't as shiney as the regular. OR it could just be a scheme to make money for paper companies.
