Well you could do it a few ways. Some of these DVD recorders and VHS players have the ability for you to record a DVD from a VHS. You could also just have a DVD recorder and a VHS player. Feed the VHS player into the DVD recorder and just play the tape and record it. Another method is buying a TV tuner card for a PC and feeding the VHS cable into it and just recording it with the PC.
If you do use a set top box VHS/DVD recorder. You might want to see if it has copyright protection. I hear alot of them now a days do.
As for the TV tuner card for the PC. If you put a bit of money in an internal one (maybe a hundred bucks). It will make your VHS tapes look as good as they were when you bought then.

u could buy a stand alone dvd recorder to transfer ur vhs to vcd or dvd whichever u want.or u could ask the photo shop to do it for u.invest in a recorder will give u an advantge on the future use.

There's this shop in Sim Lim Square I think it's on the second or third floor, next to the escalators, this shop selling DVDs and VCDs, they'll do the conversion for you at I think $8 per tape.

Get a VHS/DVD burner. They sell them where you can put your VHS tape into one slot and burn the images/film contents onto a DVD. Consult your local electronics store for details.

i think the easiest thing to do is send them to a video specialist they can restore them and make cool label look one up on yellow book.com their not very expensive either
