My mom says my boyfriend is controlling , what are the attributes of a controlling person?

Telling you who you can hang out with, telling you that you cant go out with your friends. Telling you what to do and you obey him. TELLING is the key word here. A relationship is built on asking and being concerned for the other person. Controlling people have inner issues that stem far back. The have low self esteem and need help

I think you and Mom better sit down and have an in-depth chat about your boyfriend. Controlling equals: You no longer see your other friends because of him; he wants to know where you go and what you do all the time; he insists you dress a certain way; he monitors to whom you talk in school or in the neighborhood; he tries to get you to turn away from your family. He is ALWAYS around your house.

If you're sad and almost allways alone and fighting often with your boyfriend wll honey get out of there FAST cause the longer you wait the hader it gets to manage your own life.

Expecting you to be somewhere at a precise time, calling you constantly at home to "check up" on you. Calling your home when you're not at home asking where you are. Keeping 'tabs' on you when you are with your friends. Or him constantly putting your friends down until you 'dump them'. Not giving you 'room to breath', always 'wanting' to spend every waking moment with you, it's not romantic it's controlling.

A controlling person wants you to do as he says. He wants to know where you are all the time, checks your phone for dialled/ receivednumbers and sms, comments about your friends, limits your movement, e.t.c. In short, you are not free to do as you please.
