I've always heard the same thing from friends and family who are familiar with it.
EVERYONE I know LOVES Portland and the surrounding geography, I understand, is breath taking.
I flew into their airport for a layover and I have to say, that it's airport is the prettiest I've EVER seen!
I too, have never heard anything negative about it.
Every picture I've ever seen of it, is breath taking.
I actually gasped, when we were flying into Oregon. The ground cover was the most brilliant bright green, that actually shimmered, as if it had been dusted with glitter.
I've never seen anything like it, from the air. I'll never forget it.
I also heard, that the people there are extremely friendly and helpful.
It's TRUE!... It really does look like a dreamy fairyland!..Lol!!

Portland is an extremely accepting place for unquestionably everyone. unquestionably everyone, for the main section, is friendly and heat. Having lived on the East Coast and in SoCal, the version right that's night & day. To me, East Coast is unquestionably everyone for themselves. SoCal is do not hardship me, I save on with myself, yet manage me as i'm king and properly-enjoyed. In Portland, there are few such pretentions. In pubs, you will need millionaires sitting next to broke college teenagers and chatting it up. The modern-day is that with that friendliness comes attractiveness (not in basic terms tolerance) of all kinds. Muslims, Gays, Atheists, or regardless of. It additionally has a thriving artwork/song scene and with artists tend to return extra liberal personalities. Portland truthfully does have it rather is thugs and *******, yet even interior distinctive cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds, there continues to be an underlying friendliness that takes some human beings getting used to. The added exterior of Portland into Oregon you get, the less liberal it turns into as Hunters and yee-haws replace into the inhabitants. The Portland public college gadget has gone with the aid of becoming pains, many blame this on the shortcoming of sales tax to fund the faculties and bonds. the indoors maximum faculties are particularly some the superb interior the country. And, you may hop around the river into WA and discover particularly some the superb public faculties around. If there's a loss of ethnic variety, it rather is by using fact the city continues to be extremely undiscovered. yet, there continues to be a extensive Chinatown, a extensive quantity of Indians (Asian), African human beings, and Hispanics. there is likewise a huge Russian inhabitants. Relgious variety is somewhat particularly stable. there's a attractive Mormon Temple in Lake Oswego, distinctive denominations of Christian church homes, distinctive agnostics and athiests, and a lot of mosques and Jewish Temples. there's a Muslim community midsection, an Islamic community midsection, and a minimum of another Islam interest team. the factor that would not pass over properly in Portland is a foul mindset. while you're actually not inspired and don't desire to return and waste your funds, then you definately won't in any respect be welcome. Portlanders choose people who desire to be there.

I went to PSU which is right downtown and I loved living there. I never had to drive anywhere...the bus is free in downtown and the Metro (train) goes everywhere else. I liked going to the local Safeway store because you could stand in line with rich yuppies (they lived up the hill) and smelly street people (they lived outside the Safeway) but everyone just got along. There is also lots of micro breweries and places to see bands. PSU is a great university with an emphasis on research and academics (sports comes last).

Um, no, it's pretty super. One time I was downtown late, and stopped for a snack at this bakery that was just closing, and so the guy gave me free chocolate croissants.
I kept walking around the city--I'm alone, a young woman, it's getting dark--and some slightly untrustworthy looking guy stops me and asks me for a cigarette. I say I don't have any, and he says, "Yeah, you don't really look like you smoke," and walks away.
Plus they have this thing where you can use free bicycles. Tell me that's not awesome.

I visited there for about a week. I liked it, but I wouldn't want to live there. It seems like it would bore me after awhile.
