Birth Control is just that control it is not birth prevention. What every other reader on here failed to say is that despite the fact that most birth control devices give you as high as 99% pregnancy protection there are still chances you can become pregnant while on them. The only sure way to prevent pregnancy is not to have sex.

Having said that, if I was to put money on a control device I would use a diaphragm. It gives you protection, and doesn't make the experience feel false.

Generally the woman cannot have sex for 6 weeks after birth anyway because she should be consisently having her period for those 6 weeks. After that, it is not recommended to have sex for a while due to hormonal changes and things like that. If you have to, consider alternatives to penetration or convince her to try alternative methods of Birth Control. The patch and the new pill that have come out recently onto the market have been shown to be really effective and have actually been proving in some studies to be more effective than the regular pill.

Your wife can start on oral contraceptive pills that don't contain estrogen. These are sometimes referred to as "mini-pills." The estrogen can reduce the quality and the quantity of breast milk. I hope you are breast feeding your new baby girl. Formula should be used in addition to breast feeding and not as a replacement. Also you can consider an intrauterine device (IUD). These can be placed in the uterus 4-6 weeks after delivery and left in place for 5-10 years depending on the type. And fertility is normally restored within one year after its removal, in case you wanted to have more kids. If you are done having kids then you can considered tubal ligation or a vasectomy. Vasectomy have the best chance of being reversed in comparison to tubal ligation (having your tubes tied).

There are condoms for women. I guess it goes in her snatch. There is also birth control. If you have the money, then you can buy the morning after pill, which is a form of birth control but it is designed to be used only for emergencies.
