I look forward and think: one of these days im going to not have to put up with all this crap any more, and to top it all off i'll leave a dead body on the floor for the rest of you to deal with. perhaps i'll hide it in a closet so nobody will find it until they reach in for a coat. then BOO! dead man grabbed your hand!
But seriously, Its not about me. its not about you. its about all of us collectively. This body will eventually fail, but i'll have a spirit thats going to go to heaven, and i have a genetic code which will go onward to my decendants. so this is really just 1 step forward for me and the rest of us.

After I worked with the terminally ill, I lost my fear of dying. I learned that our mortality is what gives us immediacy - the need to experience, to do, to feel, to make a difference, to connect with other people, to become passionate, to care. I worried more about dying when I was younger. Now I am in my late fifties, a widow, and a stroke survivor. You can never do all the world has to offer; our value comes in what we have to offer the world, and we all have something. Civilization, art, almost everything you can see around you - good and bad - are the cumulative effects of the millions who went before us, and that sure has meaning. Instead of concentrating on not being a god, discover your own humanity. We ALL forget things - but that is in part because the longer you live, the more experiences fill your mind, grab your attention, challenge you to think in new directions. I don't like some of the side effects of getting older - but I do like the different relationships I have with people from their teens through their eighties. I feel more confident, wiser, calmer, more peaceful than when I was much younger. Then, I worried about failure; now, it's just a mistake I won't repeat. I much prefer age to death; having come very close to dying, I'm quite sure that life is preferable.

This is the course of nature. Getting old means living your life, and if you can make the best of it, there is no place for regrets.
On the other hand, being old surely isn't the funniest thing in the world, but you still can make the best of it, too.
Life is a journey you must learn to enjoy and explore. Getting old is a part of the journey, enjoy it, take the good parts, try to stay out from the bad parts, walk on the safe side of the road, and don't fear from learning, at any age.
Take care.

i don't fear it because i'm already there. i turned 39 within the past week. being so old is depressing but i have lived a long and full life with minimal regrets. even though my life is winding down i still try to learn and stay active. the only alternative to getting old is to stop being alive so i suppose getting old is the better deal for now. i may feel differently when i turn 40, 45 or god forbid, 50. my advice to the young people is to live it up while you're young.

I fear of growing old and finding myself acomplishing nothing. As far as I know, we will all die someday. Death is a "x" - unknown world to me, but I believe in Jesus and resurrection.
I told myself trying to create as much happy moment as possible in my life, so I can enjoy good memory when I get old.
There is a short song in musical "RENT" I loved very much, it goes like "There is only yes, there is only this; there is no other road, there is no other way; forget pass, forget regret, or life will be wasted away,..." Life is hard and can be very depressing, but happiness is really in our hands.
We have to learn how to be optimistic and create our happiness in good time and bad time of our life. Because we are going to remember and look back at our life when we are too old to think about future...

Every once in a while it really hits me...Because I am a mother I am constantly reminded that I am getting old, because my daughter is getting older too. The years seem to fly by...and the changes that come are sometimes scary.I am 40, that means I probably have another 40 years to live if I'm lucky. Now that's depressing, because the last 40 years have gone by really fast. Well, thanks for ending my night on that note. Ha Ha. This is my last question of the night. We old farts need our sleep. Nighty night.

I dont fear growing old. I fear not learning lifes lessons. In fact I look forward to aging gracefully. There's nothing really there to fear about in my opinion. For example, I'm 33 today and that is a lot older than I was when in high school...but being 33 has its advantages.. and nobody grows old all of a sudden. Nature prepares for it and by the time you are old (lets say 60) you are prepared for it. So do not worry dear. Be good this moment! that's all you need to do.

I'm not sure that i shall get very old, my grad-father die on about 90 years old, but i doubt for myself if i go further than 60.
Anyway ... I shall be happy to share my knowledge one day with growind ones :) ( if i had ).
And i think this is one of ultimate gift that can be done - sharing the knowledge with other , and helping then taking righter descisions.
well - I do not fear death or oldness ... it shall come , even if i fear it ... so i deside to live as i wish, and try have one more completed life :)

It is depressing getting old...but that is life. So grab life by the horns and enjoy the ride. You said "its sad to me because we won't be able to do alot of the things we could" well get working on a list and start knocking those things out. Or you could just let life pass you bye and gripe because it is...but what fun is that...
I actually look forward to retiring...not that I want it to come to quick...but it would be great sittin on mah rocker next to my hott lil wifey...

it is really scary to just sit and take the time to think bout the future.
but dont take too much time on thinkin bout it.
just know that you should most def. live your life to the fullest and as best as you can.
worrying about little things is a waste..i know this because i have depression and me worrying over certain things makes my depression worse. until my friends and family and therapist told me that depression is hard to get through but just try your best on doing the things you love most. people come and go..but memories stay with you forever.
