She was a true leader - firm, determined and no other countries puppet.
She deserves a full state funeral.
But it seems very weird to be discussing this when the lady is still very much alive.

The Lady has not died. Just Tony Blair's office was debating what to do if and when she does die...
"Thatcher, 80, reported to be in good physical health, but with a failing memory, became Britain's first female prime minister in 1979 when she won the first of three straight general elections for the Conservative Party"

I'm worried that when she finally kicks the bucket, someone at Tory Party HQ will secretly arrange for a Thatcher clone to be grown from her own stem cells.
This would neatly side-step the issue of whether or not to hold a state funeral, but (given the awfulness of the current crop of Tory politicians in general), raises rather more nightmarish possibilities.

Didn't even know she'd died. I think she deserves a great send off and agree that she was a close second to Churchill. I think Blair will attend though...definitely.
Has she died? If not, why are you asking this? Hardly respectful if she's not even dead!

I agree....i know that there are a lot of people out there that disagreed with her politics but there is no doubt that she was a great leader and i think it would be a terrible snub if Blair did not attend her funeral...looking at it with a slight sense of humour....Maggie timed that very well...Blair's summer holiday plans had already been disrupted due to current events and it looks as though he is now going to have to interupt it again.....tough at the top isn't it...??

She is still very much alive, it's just that a question has been asked os the prime minister that WHEN she dies, will she be given a state funeral. Bit premature as it may be a different party in power. I don't think she is any better or worse than many, so no state funeral would be my idea.

Most of the time I disagreed with Mrs Thatcher, but at least she considered herself truly British. It is not for the likes of T. Blair to deny her a state funeral when the time comes.

When Maggie dies what type of funeral she has will be down to her family, it has nothing to do with the labour party and if Blair is still p.m. he is duty bound to be there

Are you serious? Would you believe this news has not even been mentioned here in the US? (I have been listening to a news channel all evening). To answer your question, though, yes, she was a great leader, even though I did not agree with her politics. I hope that Blair and all Brits will give her the respect she deserves.
