I am not a cafe racer type of guy, more of a cruiser type guy... My opinions on motorcycles can be summed up by this old addage: Two bull stood on top of a knoll, over looking a prarie, in in which there where a herd of cows... the young bull says to the older bull, 'hey man! lets run down there and shank (the F word was replaced by me) one of those cows! To which the older Bull said, how about we walk down there, and shank them all... It's not the destination, it's the ride (or the journey there). With that said, there are many cool 250cc cruiser bikes to choose from (Suzuki even makes a 175, I believe), but the latest consumer comparison report pitted the big three jap bikes up against a S. Korean bike, and a Tiawanese bike (maybe even from India... not certain on this one), but the over-all favored bike was the Hyosung Aquila (south korean, made by the Hyundai ppl; and they have been making bikes for over 30 yrs!). If you are in the USA, it is marketed as Alphasports, Aquila. The msrp is about $2700, (while the Jap bikes are right around a grand more, for less technology, less horse power, and less chrome!). I hope this helps a little. Below are some links to Asian cruisers, being sold in the US.

I would look into Vespa. I haven't road one, but the stats look great. I did however ride a 200cc Yamaha dual sport. It was pretty cool and easy to throw around. That's the great thing about light bikes, they are easy to maneuver.
