Or still worse is this the general condition of the world? No wonder we have such monkey dance happening all over the globe wot with wars, economic and ecological mayhem!!! If this is the cross-section of average Western mind, if this is the best wisdom we can produce only divine or alien intervention can save the world?
What is the secret of this general dumbness out there? Or does yahoo answers especially attract morons?

What has basically happened, at least in the political questions in Yahoo, is that there is a war going on between the far left and far right political agenda. It's been happening in most of the more popular public forums.
It's usually the same: Someone makes a political statement, disguised as a question, then attacks all those who disagrees with them.
Morals mean little to these puppets. Using stereotyping, misinformation, half-truths, name-calling and scripted answers are the tools they use.
What gives me hope is that few, if any, here are buying their BS. And I'm very impressed with some of the well thought out replies.

Yes, my first time here but seems like a mix of a lot of restless teenagers or something interspersed with some intelligence. And it is a full moon so many people are being nocturnal
Yes the condition of the world is a crazy! Yet there are many beautiful things happening and capable wise people too. You just have to hunt a little
And even though it may be mainly western on yahoo, I recieved a messages from a person in India so it is not all western.
If you ask an intelligent question, Ill try to come up with an intelligent answer
were not all morons! though its a bit easy to get sucked into random superficial questions

You know, I asked the same thing the other day. Its quite disheartening I know. One answer I recieved (apart from the insulting ones) was that it could be that school is out in the USA? I'd like to believe that, but I can't. I think its appauling that people can degrade, insult & hurt other peoples feelings just to make themselves feel big & clever. I'm right with you on this one hey!
Even if a new site were to be avaliable, it wouldn't take long for the morons out there to ruin it also. I guess all we can do is grin & bear it, otherwise we would send ourselves completely mad because we allow such simple minded people to irritate us!
It will be interesting to see how many of the idiots answer this question & what moronic comments they come up with!
Jeezzzz.
beinthenow has a wonderful outlook, I'll be voting for them!!

Yahoo Answers is a general-audience gathering point, and a forum for all ages to participate in, at least that's the way I view it. For someone who wishes to be in a more scholarly environment, more consistently, and without so much distraction by unscholarly answers, it's best to locate on on-line forum that deals more with the specific subject matter you're interested in. There are many forums out there with that offering
But Yahoo is like going into a public park or town square where anyone can go and sit and talk, and no one is excluded, but if you choose to come to the park it's best to be tolerant and realize that not everyone shares your same interest. That's just the culture of a public park.

You know, I was just thinking...two people can give the same answer to a question and one is a "moron" and the other is not (IMHO).
Why?...because the morons are not challenging themselves to answer to the best of their ability (sometimes just wanting to appear sophomoric) while the other folks are doing their best to express their opinion.
The former group deserves to be shunned. The latter group can teach you something:
- Where and how their opinions were formed.
- Why they feel the way they do.
- Whether they're a "single-issue" advocate, or not.
And maybe most important - what they think of your opinion.
You don't need a high IQ or exceptional communication skills to have a worthwhile opinion. But you do need to want to think about things to the best of your ability.

I think that there is a fair percentage of very young people who have not lived or studied much doing a great deal of answering here. This is an attractive venue for total idiots as well. Nonetheless, there are some really cool people here. Ive seen your questions before, and I hear how frustrated and angry you are. The world is in upheaval. I told you this before, but Ill do it again. You are here in this time for an important reason. there are no coincidences. Humanity is changing and your open eyes and loving heart are needed to help us evolve and grow in our global community. Fear not. Be at peace. You are among friends seen and unseen.

I am not a moron. Nor do I have a poor mind. I offer advice to those seeking it. What might be an ignorant question to you, could very well be an important matter to someone else. Ive lived through many horrible things in my 27 years, if I can take the wisdom Ive gained and help another, I will. But who are we to judge someone else? It seems to me that might be something YOU should work on. Instead of putting the world down for their ignorance, you should look inside your soul to see your own. We are all ignorant to some degree, but degrading others to make ourselves feel better is wrong. You should be ashamed of yourself.

you hit by you first words....its a world condition.I have said it before if you are going to gripe about the Yahoo Answers site dont participate...as far as I know there is still a certain amount of freedom of opinion somewhere left on planet earth and if Yahoo is it then so be...if you had anything more pressing going on in your life perhaps you would not be as obsessed with this issue.

I think your answer will include a little of all of what you mentioned. Plus, mostly Americans use this site, and it is after midnight across most of America. The only Americans on now are drunk, or insomniacs. Or little 12 year old kids who are spoiled and have computers in their rooms.

Of course, like many people, I could come up with a more detailed answer. For now, consider this quote that is often used by older people:
