You no longer get a point for rating but you can choose what in your opinion are good and bad answers which I think is quite cool.
It almost seems as if they want to try and reduce the "2 pts plz" answers by allowing others to select a 'thumbs down' to those types of answers. Saying that, I don't know what the 'penalty' would be for falling below a certain % of thumbs down answers...a short suspension for unfair play perhaps??

You don't feel so inclined to rate an answer, plus you can't rate your own answers or vote for them. So how is it going to work ? it stops you collecting more points for being involved and encourages you to answer more questions but does that mean people are going to start giving silly short answers instead of well thought out ones?
You still get a point for voting for a best answer though.
We will have to wait and see what happens.

I hadn't noticed. The people who run Answers are a cheap bunch...you only got two points for ratings and then they take those two measly points? Why should anyone bother to rate anymore?
I never understood why they even have a point system. Now it's even stupider. Are they gonna take points away for even getting on Answers next?

Not quite sure what it all means, but if you no longer get points for rating, then the hell with it, I'm not even gonna bother!

It's going to be alittle time to get use to it. You don't get points for rating anymore, but you still can by voting for the best answer.

i quite like the new layout - I'm surprised the system didn't crash while they were making the changes!
I suppose they are right to take away the point for rates - it was an easy and lazy way for us to top up our points sometimes if we just couldn't be asked!

Well, I for one dig the rating of the questions themselves, not just the answers... and for the crappy questions, I think people will rate them.
