Is it bad to take the day off if you're really sick but just started a new job only a week or so ago?

You could go in and say you really feel unwell. The boss is sure to send you home and would know you're not faking it.

I always get sick when I start new jobs.. I think it's due to the different germs in the aircon ducts, that you haven't built resistance to yet.. Go into work, and talk to your boss.. just tell him you feel terrible (both with the flu & for having to take a day off sick already).. just stress that you feel guilty about going home sick in your first week.. then they will know it's not in your character to be a slack ***.. and they will respect the fact that you actually came in to explain this to them and prove it at the same time..

I would first call your employer. If they have a problem with it then I would go to the Doctor and get a note. If you don't have medical insurance, I would suggest going to work and talking to your supervisor. Once they see how sick you are they will tell you to go home. They don't want to get it. Yeah it looks kinda bad when you first start a job but no one can help it when they are too sick to work. Get some rest and quit worrying.

Well if you really are sick, it's best to stay home so you don't get other people sick. Bring in a Dr's note when you return so your employer will know it was legit.

Yes. Why should everybody else at work have to do your job because you're not "feeling well". Go to work, do the job you're being paid to do, and go home. Simple.

Yea, you need to go in and cough on a few of the workmates so they won't think you're laying out the first time....
