i have lived in all three, each having pro's and con's.
I would still go with the rural area. nice and quiet and nobody up in your business usually.

suburb...its where i've always lived
i don't like small rural areas
i like living close to urban areas but not directly in them

I don't like the rush rush attitude of the big cities, or the self centered nature of the burbs. I like small towns of 10,000 or so. That's where I want to live. Enough to know a lot of people, but still remain somewhat annonomys. In a big city of millions, I feel quite insignificant. Plus, I like trees and calm and clean air and quiet and stars at night. Small town is the way to go.

i live in a suburb/rural area
we have 5 acres of land and live on a gravel road but we have neighbors and is in city limits of a city of 55,000
and 25 min away from a city of 200,000

the urban area is nice for it's convienence ( I would prefer a condo in chicago or nyc, if I could afford it lol) the rural area is nice if you like peace and quiet.

suburb...i don't like having to parallel park on the street, and i don't like driving 30 miles to the grocery. the suburbs are just right...i like the comfy medium.

I'm a city boy. I like that they have a lot of excitement and that you can walk to a lot of things.

suburban..you can have access to everything you need for daily life..i live in a town where we have mega-sized shopping sites...food mainly..
very convienient
