I worked at a theater for over a year, and yes they still have to show the movie at that time, or else its false advertising.
Unless its the last showing and no one bought tickets to any of the movies showing, then, even though they're still started on time, they're shut off after fifteen minutes so the workers can go home early.

I visited a cinema here and noticed a man having an arguement with the ticket distributor...I later found out that the man in question and his firend were the only one who turned up for the show and they couldnt run it unless there were a minimum of four. The guy was asking why the cinema guys didnt put that condition in the newspaper ad. To answer your quesiton, normally shows do not run (since it is not profitable) unless they have a minimum number of people...that depends from place to place

Yes, a few years ago i went to see a movie and when it ended i had nothing else to do. So I went into another movie, it was 'Night at the Roxbury' With Will Farrel and Chris Kattan. But anywho not a sole was in there, but the movie still played.

Yes! We were late for the evening show and it was during the week. We came in about 20 minutes after the movie began. We were the only ones there.

I think they still have to play the movie. I remember once me and my husband went to see a movie named "I never promised you a rose garden" and we were the only 2 people in the whole theater through the whole movie!
