i heard that if the two sticks of 512 differ in speed..then the computer will choose the stick with a lesser speed. so since my current 512 is PC2700 DDR 333 MHz..will it still be compatible with PC3200 400 MHz even speeds are different? because i also heard PC3200 is backwards compatible with PC2700..but i really want to make sure before i buy..thanks in advance : )

yes it will work but your new ddr 400 will reduce its speed and work on 333MHZ. It is recommended to change your old stick to DDR 400 so that they are both the same, and by the way, there is a lot of perfomance differnece between 333mhz and 400mhz. But if you don't want to pay a lot, buy the new pc3200 and you will have more ram, you will also gain some performance.

It will work. I would suggest what the other person with replacing the PC2700 but find out if your motherboard supports PC3200. If it doesn't then even though you have 2 sticks of PC3200, it will still run at PC2700. Then you just wasted a perfectly good stick of RAM. Ah, a good thing about getting faster memory than stock is that the CAS latency will actually be at full. It would most likely see your RAM as CAS 2.0. The only thing that won't be compatible with your RAM are the new DDR2. So yea go purchase the 512......... More power to you!

It should work but it would reduce the speed of the new ram to the speed of the old stick. But the best way would be to see if you can get any DDR333 ram.

when you buy this please ask the reseller for make sure.In my opinion,I think that you can't support it but you can stick but can''t read it because the motherboard will not attach your RAM of different PC model that 3200 and your's PC 2700.
