I read the instruction packet but im still confused. I need some step by step instructions on how to do this... please!?

ok, what you do is on the week of your period, start taking the pill on that sunday. so for example, if you get your period on tuesday, start the pack on that sunday, where it says sunday on the pack so your days arnt off. try not to miss any days. and whenyou get to the green pills, thats when you should be getting your period. it might happen a few days after taking the green pills or might happen when you start your new pack, but once youve been taking them for a few months you body will get used to it and become regular. also, if you dont want a period at all, just skip the green pills and start a new pack. they call it ortho nuvum 777 because, since there are usually 4 weeks in a month, you take the pill for 3 weeks, then get your period the last week. some ortho novum packs dont have those 4th week pills and only contain 21 pills, not the 28. but its taken the same as the 28 pack, they just dont take any pill for the 7 days so they can get there period. those 7 period pills your talking about are just reminder pills. they dont contain the key ingredient that prevents you from having your period. dont worry, i was nervous too when i started my birth control, but you will find it great not having your period when you dont have to and getting rid of the god awful cramps! you should always consult your doctor if your unsure of anything. they might want you to take it a different way. the way i put down is the usual way of taking birth control.

I have usually been told to take the first pill on the first Sunday after my period starts. I guess it doesn't matter much when you take the green pills. You will pretty much start your period that week no matter when you start taking the white ones. I don't think either way will hurt you or anything. It's just a matter of scheduling. It's important to take them once a day as close as possible to the same time of day. If you do that all the time, your chances of pregnancy are considerably less than if you miss one or take it later than you are supposed to. So, basically, take your pill at the time of day when you will be able to remember to take it and take it at the same time every day. That's all you really need to know.

What the other person said is it in a nutshell...and if i remember correctly...the 21 pills are 21 days worth of hormones that fakes the body into thinking you ARE pregnant so you won't have a developed egg....the 7 green ones are the fake placebo's...when you don't need to worry about getting a period because that's when you should get it....so even if you don't get your period until say 7 at night on that first day...start taking them and you won't believe how regulated that re-shape your period....I mean talk about clockwork! you'll know that say on the 30th day by 10 a.m you'll get it..I mean that's how exact it was for me...I don't know if everyone is like that....and remember to be consistant with the time...like take it the same time each day...whether it be when you first get up and brush your teeth..or take it at supper of right before bed....and if you are on antibiotics during any month...it screws up the birth control so BE CAREFUL and use a backup....same thing if you take it and get sick and throw up within 2 hours of taking it...it takes longer to get into your system so it won't work for that month either...and make sure you take one full month of it before it "kicks in"...someone the other night asked this same question...good luck...oh FYI...this didn't happent to me but to my best friend...if you start getting wicked headaches...your body can't handle the hormones...tell your MD ASAP!!!....addition...i think the last person is right though about the week after...you know what call a pharmacist if you can't call your MD to find out for sure when to start it and what color...
