Not the same thing but very closely related, imo. I think that the soul by interacting with our body creates the sensation of consciousness/awareness (sixth sense?). The soul needs the body as an instrument to experience the sensations including that of consciousness and self awareness.
Compare it to a car the thing that really moves the car is its very design. Not the specific design of a certain type of car, not the fuel or the tires, but the fact that it was designed to move. The design of the car of course doesn't create the consciousness and awareness we experience when our design and designation interact with us, but there definitely is a striking similarity that makes me dismiss that consciousness and soul are the same thing.
Good question!

The consciousness is not one thing but composit of several mental activities that exist in a layered structure.
There is no such thing as a soul.

Seperate things.
The soul is the spark of the Creator that it threw off of its self before the creation of the physical universe. those sparks became the souls of all that was and will be.
Consciousness is the awareness of the Physical body that your soul is living in to operate in the physical universe.
