At 40 weeks, my due date, I went to see the Dr. and I wasn't dilated and the cervix was still high. I had her 3 days after her due date at the end of August. But I know that was in the first stages of labor for those 3 days.
God bless ya with the heat and being pregnant. That can be very stressful in itself...you get tired of being pregnant, but completely grateful at the same time.
Baby's come when they are ready. Most Dr.'s wait up two weeks after the due date to induce. So you could be pregnant for another 2 weeks. But I would ask your Dr. to possibly strip the membranes. Some will and some won't. Your Dr. will also watch how big the baby is getting and if he/she is large, some Dr.'s will offer to induce. You could also ask the Dr. if you can stimulate your beasts to help labor begin. Some Dr.'s don't recommend it. Keep up your walking, wash the floor on your hands and knees and have some sex before the baby comes.
I will happen, hang in there and enjoy your spouse before the lil' one comes. Maybe try to stay at a local Inn/Suite (in town in case you go into labor) and relax.
Good Luck and Congratulations!

i am in the same shoes..only my little girl has dropped but i'm not dilated at all either. Im due on the 22nd but am ready to go NOW! I have horrible swelling right now and Doc put me on bedrest. which would be fine-except for the back pain.lol. So i'm not even allowed to walk..no fun. Anyhow, i looked up how to naturally induce labor and this is what i found. Nipple stimulation, sex, and walking. Those are about the best things is says to try right now...Good Luck. Let me know when u have the baby.

Semen can stimulate your cervix, orgasm can start uterine contractions.
Is this your first baby? If so, the timing may not be 100% right, well, it seldom is anyway. ;-) Just relax, the baby will come when the baby's ready to come. I know you're miserable, stay inside with the A/C, drink LOTS of water (even though you're wearing the carpet between the living room and bathroom!), and just do what little you need to do to be ready for your new baby! Congrats and best wishes!

Try to relax...the baby will arrive when it's the right time. I know the end of pregnancy is stressful and you feel so uncomfortable but hang in there, it's almost over.
You can try nipple stimulation while soaking in the bathtub to start Braxton Hicks contractions which might get your body working in that direction. They're usually painless or at most mildly uncomfortable, but you'll feel the tightening. They're referred to as practice contractions.
Keep walking, you're doing great.

I have been where you are. from the inside out that is .my mom carried me for a full 10 months. I wanted a litle more quality time i guess.
You will have that baby soon. The doctors should be talking to you about inducing your labor and manually dilalating your cervix. It is not natural, but neither is being pregnant for a year either.

Definately do somethign to relax!! The worrying & stress will make things worse. Sex helps because it always helps to relax the body! The child will come when they are ready. Also, if your insurance is like mine & the hospital I work for, CALL the labor & delivery department. they are open 24/7, the call is free, and they will be able to calm your nerves & give you more suggestions medically specific to your case.
Congrats on your lil one

I believe that the more you stress the less likely you will go into labor. Please, just enjoy this time because soon you will wish you had a little quiet time. I would just continue to walk and let the baby come when the baby is ready to come. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy!!!!! I will pray that you have pain free, easy birth......

There alot of things that could be causing this. Babies show up when they are ready. Be patient and if your doctor thinks that there is a problem I am sure he will go over all of you options in delivering your new little one. Good Luck!!!!!
