I would like to know if the percentage of Muslims that actually hold extremist views--death to America and Israel, etc.--is pretty high or not so much at all. I am not close with any Muslims, and all the terrorism going on right now really makes me second guest the idea that Islam is the "religion of peace." Please be specific.

I don't think it's very high. The majority of Muslims don't hold the whole "death to America/Israel" but they do dislike what gov't policies of each when it comes to international issues.

Keep in mind that the US and also Israel have their own brand of terrorism too. Murdering innocent women and children and babies in order to keep our oil flowing and to keep Israel happy with us is terrorism too.

Lack of education and endemic poverty in the
muslim world are being exploited by groups of
opportunist for their own vested interest. There were
violence in christianity as well, but in a very small scale,
mainley because of the level of education and wealth they
have. Root cause lies somewhere else, not so much
in the religion.

Not many I assume. I have muslims in my fam and non of them agree with that crap. Though defending your faith like anyone else is understandable. Just in a decent way.
