welcome to globalization
where the workers around the world compete for fewer and fewer jobs (increased productivity)
think of this the next time the politicians or corporations tell you that free trade will help everyone

This is so sad to read and hear this,
but I also want to ask: what is wrong with the people, that they rather tend to blame the economy, the state, anyone else?
I am so sorry, but the time of the social and just state economy is not only over - it never came. Everyone should take care of his/her family himself.
There is a number of possibilties, but they are a subject for another question:
How can I get financial security?

I don't think there is any place in the world where you can have one or two jobs and maintain a comparable living standard as here. I would advice these people to obtain a better paying job by training or higher education.

really bites.. and those of us that worked two jobs still found living paycheck to paycheck...seems the more you make the more you spend....but then i do see a bad thing.. another depression in our lifetime......im sure you experienced at some point in time another person taking less pay for the same job so your let go so the company can pocket more money.. oh and those that quit there job cause thier foodstamps will be lowered and they just cant have that...im all for helping people in a bind or those that just cant do the physical work anymore but when i see a 19 yr. old quit a job cause the goverment pays her more to sit on her *** at home just really ticks me to no end.. here she perfectly capable of working.. getting an education, drives brand new car has brand new home .. cause the goverment gave it to her.. and to top it off shes married with a deadbeat who refuses to work.. oh and did i mention great health insurance.. free of charge for her but then we pay for it for her... our government really screwed up along the way..

You need 3 jobs because you're paying taxes to keep people who won't work/can't work...not to mention the worlds population. Could be living beyond your means too

well. thats the reality of the economy kicking in.
After decades of economic progression, the currency has gone so low as compared to the prices of things, = you need to earn money $$ to buy the same things. Not withstanding also that the number of thigns that we want has gone up so much as compred to the simpler life of the past.
btw. economic progression does not equate social progression.
