Well... since waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy back in the day they pretty much considered anyone with black in them to be black. They both speak very openly about being bi-racial. But, the reality of it is that the first thing anyone sees is black. And I'm pretty sure the only reason anyone cares is because they are successful celebrities. If it were just bi-racial Brenda from down the street, no one would care what they called themselves.

I feel the Government is partially at fault. If you are an "American Citizen".....STOP asking for the nationality.....You are simply an "American".....without all the baggage. As I c it there are very few Blacks that are NOT mixed with Something or should i say Someone of a different nationality.....Blacks were free for the taking by ALL....in the past

I don't understand it much either. We seem to have some need to classify ourselves and each other, don't we? If Alicia and Halle went to Europe, they would be called Americans, there.
It gets even stranger when you meet more non-American people in the US. I have actually overheard people saying of a man from Senegal, "Oh, no he's not black. He's African."
Once more, people. The words black and white are the names of colors that do not correspond to any human skin color. It's all various browns.

My dads black my moms a filipina, I look more black than i do filipino but some people can tell im not fully because of my hair or my nose, i call myself black AND filipino, and whenever i have to fill out that section on forms and things that says "ethnicity" i usually will put other, or depending on if they dont have that i will put black, not because filipino is not in me or I am not proud, because i AM proud of my family history, its just easier because i look more black than filipino, as it is equally with Alicia Keys and Halle Berry, they both look more black besides a couple of there physical traits

Being biracial, I agree. I don't consider myself black or white, I'm both. But a lot biracial people choose the race that they associate with or feel closer to. Alicia Keys probably feels closer to black people then white people. Not to mention that we are discriminated against from white people mostly. I've been discriminated mostly from white people, but I have been discriminated from black people too. (Been told I wasn't black enough.)

nicely, enable's start up with this. A white piece of paper, you shade. You shade the excellent paper with blue. THEN, shade it entire with yellow... What shade do you get? White/blue/yellow... WHAT!?!?! What kinda shade is that? white/blue/yellow... No. White does no longer something, blue and yellow makes eco-friendly, hence, you call the colour, eco-friendly!!! Samething with AK. you won't be ready to call her a white/black. perhaps a brown could be greater clever. the top. own message to all readers: I at the instant have a query it incredibly is open. Please look at it and answer in case you could. thank you.

All kinds of people live on this planet: white, black, yellow, red...
What's up with that?
So what if Hally Berry calls herself black?
So what if Asian guy calls hisself American?
So what if Eminem raps?
It's their own business. if they say so, let them be

that is a good question.
back home, whatever your mom is, that will be your ethnicity.
i wonder the same thing since we have a daughter, she is mixed races. im filipino but part spanish and chinese, my husband is french, irish, indian and black, but since in states, no matter what, if you have black anywhere, you are consider black race. she is not ashamed of her ethnic background, she start using that as her own race. she have a long straight hair, her beauty looks so exotic from europe. she is tall and now married to an irish german guy, i can't wait to see my own grand baby, whatever it is, the baby will be an "omelet" cause of those mixtures. but i will love my grand kid no matter what...

Aren't those ladies just beautiful.
I don't care what they call themselves.
They are probably playing to the audience and going with the monetary flow.
Maybe they think that their identifying with a given race will help someone.
