My blood group is AB positive and most of the summer I get bitten incessantly. Perhaps it is because:
a. I live near a lagoon
b. I live in a humid climate
From what I have heard and read it is the female mosquitoes that bite. Also using citronella oil helps and burning citronella incense as well.

Dear Barry, at this time of year all biting flies need some mammal or bird to feed on. The blood sucking type are attracted to high sugar level blood, sweat and any perfuming lotions or aftershave. At a push you could stand in woodsmoke for a few seconds and this kills off any scent on your body.

A+ and I get bitten EVERY time I go abroad and they are the nasty bites that really swell up and itch for days. I still have lumps from bites I got over 10 years ago.

As a prevention I try drinking gin and tonic (apparently mozzies don't like quinine and it gives me a good excuse!)

I'm o-, I did used to get bitten lots, but I don't seem to be affected so badly anymore. Isn't it down to some hormone levels rather than blood type. I forget the name but it's the one that makes you attractive to the opposite sex- lucky I'm practically married then!

I am an O negative. They bite me but not all the time. My daughter is an A positive and she rarely gets bit. Hardly ever. Now my son is AB negative and he can't go outside without Deep Woods off, they bite him from the time he goes out until the time he comes in.

I believe that it doesn't matter what group you are in. If you have a high enough amount of a certain b vitamin, (I can't remember if it is 6 or 12) then they don't like the taste or scent of your blood...

As far as I know, mosquitoes don't care for blood group. It bites and sucks all kinds of blood and if your immune system is weak then you will feel sick - whatever blood group you belong to.
