Do as I did. Get a 3.5' external hard drive enclosure from Compusa ($25) and put your hard drive inside and connect it via the USB ports on your laptop or on your desktop... if you have other to boot your desktop... Or just get a new laptop and give your as payment for this advice.

Yeah, the only real way to do it is to buy an external enclosure for the hard drive that uses USB 2.0 or Firewire (though your laptop might not have Firewire ports). Then you can connect it to your laptop easily.

Realize that if your laptop doesn't have USB 2.0 or Firewire ports, then you're going to have a hell of a time with it. If you just have the standard USB 1.1, then the max transfer rate at any time will be just 1.5MB/s, which is about 1/20 of the speed that the average hard drive can transfer data.

Desktop harddrives are much larger in physical size than those used in laptops, you wouldn't be able to put one inside your laptop case. About the only way you would be able to use the desktop hardrive on a laptop would be to purchase an external drive case and connect it via USB.

You need external hard drive (adapter) for this purpose.

Frankly, I do have this thing but I'm getting some problems. What I can recommend is buy 2.5" hard drive. It has no external power and you can put it on your pocket to bring it with you since it's like a pocket calculator.

Not Interally, the side will not fit, if it is a traditional laptop. You would need to get an external cast. Put the harddrive in the case then use the harddrive externally.
