It means ecstatic. So happy that you're almost hyperactive. For example, you could be elated when your boyfriend finally gets down on his knees and throws you a proposal.

extremely happy, you're on a high, not necessarily drug-induced though, you could get naturally elated from doing something that makes you vEry happy, like going up the mountains, a roadtrip or finding a new discovery.

ELATED def of word...when my in-law's come over and only spend 5 minutes visiting!!! Or when my mother comes over and says she taking all 3 of my children off my hands for the night!!! Believe me that's the def of the word ELATED!!!!
