Good answer. I would agree, there are sites like monster.ca that will give you a idea of average salaries in canada, for any specific thing in almost every industry and it will give you the low-high and average with and without benefits. As far as netowrk admins go it really depends in Vancouver (aprix city size of 2.1Million) low is 55K high is 110K average is about 65K (these are all canadian) I would also assume that pay is directly related to experience and certificaions. CCIE (the top of the top Cisco certification) would Garuntee you alsmost 100K/year if you can find someone to hire you without any experience. Try getting your Netowrk+ and A+ exams first, then CCNA and then your MCSE.

That depends on where you live. You may go to www.salary.com for more information.

If you are a junior network admin in the silicon valley, I'd say the starting salary is $40k to $45k. In the LA area, the salary is a little lower, but they are catching up. All other areas in the US (except for northeast) will be lower than this number.

If you consider a career in IT, I'd would recommend you start out as helpdesk as that's where you gain the experience. Hardly any employer I know would hire a network admin without any work experience. If they want to hire a junior network admin, they would tend to find someone with good helpdesk experience. Once you are a helpdesk, you can then study or get certified with CCNA or MCSE. You are then a lot more attractive to potential employers.
