what the Panther Party was about? Not from the movie, or what your folks told you, but what it was really all about???

Racists? Supremacists? Communists? Heroes?

As I recall, they had an agenda that sought equal rights for the oppressed. They did productive things to achieve those goals and also committed some criminal acts.
Those who seek social change must go against the conventions and practices of the day. Those who are in a hurry are more likely to commit greater offenses than just being impolite or violate bus seating rules.
They were probably a mix of all of your labels depending on who is making the assessment.
In my assessment they were right to be angry, right to be impatient about having equal rights and they had the courage to put their lives on the line for what they believed. Some were also criminals.

Pretty much just a bunch of racists and black supremacists. Not too much different from today's Muslim terrorists.
