You should see a gynecologist immediately. The first trimester is a critical and delicate stage, so its best not to take any chances.

You are a good husband and will be a good father I can tell by the tone of your question.
This is not a good sign though my friend. she may be having a miscarriage. It happens to most women at least once in their lifetime. This may be her time.
Ask her is she is spotting blood. If she is then go immediately to the emergency room. In either case on the safe side just go ahead and go to the ER. If she does miscarry they will want to make sure she is cleaned really well so no infection can set up. This is the best thing if it does happen, to be at the hospital when it does. The clean up is essential to future babies.
Please stay calm. She is going to be okay, it just may not be the right time to have this particular child. But stay calm and keep her lying down with her feet elevated and a blanket to keep her warm. Try to keep her a calm and relaxed as you can. Carry her if you can to the car or call for help. the less she is wrestled around the better it will be.'
If it is not to be this time. It will happen soon for you. It will be alright. She is going to be fine. It hurts, but it is normal if something is not right with the pregnancy and nature is handling it before it goes any further into the trimester.'
Go on and see to your lady. It is your job right now, and you are the man who can handle it, and handle it well. I can tell.

Well, if she isn't bleeding it should be fine. I went to the ER twice in my first 8 weeks of being pregnant. It turns out i had a cict (sp!) on my right ovary. It caused the WORST cramping ever. It was so bad that I couldnt even get up to walk. Everytime I went they told me if I wasn't bleeding it should be fine. the cist is normal I was told until the placenta is strong enough to nurture the baby.. She should go to the hospital though they will be able to tell her exactly what is going on. If she is in pain this bad again and they told her she has a cist and she isn't bleeding I can recommend drinking green tea and laying on her side..

I hope everything is alright for her and the baby is fine. I know how horrible that pain can be

The primary risk for most women in the first trimester of pregnancy is early miscarriage. Following are possible signs of miscarriage:

Bleeding with cramps or pain in the center of your lower abdomen. However, pain on either side alone may be caused by ectopic pregnancy and also warrants a call to your health care provider.

Severe pain or pain that continues for more than one day, even if it is not accompanied by spotting or bleeding

Bleeding that may be as heavy as a menstrual period

Light spotting that continues for more than three days
Call Your Health Care Provider - Pregnancy is not a time to ignore warning signs from your body. On the contrary, throughout your pregnancy you will learn to pay careful attention to what your body is telling you. If you are experiencing something out of the ordinary, it may warrant a call to your health care provider. If you experience any of the following, be sure to call your health care provider immediately:

Any of the above signs of a miscarriage

Severe abdominal pain, especially if it is accompanied by bleeding, nausea, vomiting or swelling of the hands and face

Slight vaginal spotting

Heavy vaginal bleeding, especially if it is accompanied by abdominal or back pain

Bleeding from the nipples, rectum or bladder

Coughing up blood

A gush or steady leaking of fluid from the vagina

A sudden increase in thirst if it is accompanied by a decrease in the need to urinate or lack of urination for an entire day

Swelling or puffiness of the hands, face or eyes, especially if accompanied by headache or vision difficulties

Painful or burning urination, especially if accompanied by chills and a fever over 102 degrees and/or backache

Vision disturbances that continue for two hours, including blurry vision, dimming or double vision

Severe nausea and vomiting or vomiting more than two to three times a day in the first trimester

HOPE THIS INFO HELPS SOME AS IT COULD BE THE START OF A MISCARRIAGE. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE SHE IS JUST EXPERIENCING STRETCHING AND CRAMPING LIKE I DID WITH NO PROBLEMS.

It doesn't sound right to me... she needs to see a OB doctor asap!
I have been pregnant 4 times, and never had bad pains until the end of the term. Seeing her doctor regularly is a must, especially at the beginning of pregnancy. Good luck, I hope everything's OK for her and you both and baby also.

No. Go straight to the doctor and get an ultrasound scan. Miscarriages during the first month is common. Or baby may not be in the right position in the womb.

1 month? well at the time of my due period and two weeks beforeI had period like cramps...so it is at one month...but they were not severe, and no blood...So if its the same for your wife, then it could be normal. If not, and the pain is severe, then go to the doctor, no waiting.
And no sex!...we had it once since we found out I'm pregnant and it hurt after for two, three days....I'm 15 1/2 weeks now, and didn't have sex since then :-(..but it's worth it..
You should go to the doctor to exclude an ectopic pregnancy...if the pain is one sided it could be...ectopic
Good luck to you! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

If it's a cramping pain that reminds her of period cramps, get to the ER now. That would indicate a miscarriage. Good luck to you.
