1. You do not BELIEVE in evolution. There is proof to support it.

2. People say Beauty of God's creation....are you saying you understand God's conception of beauty? If so, please tell me where God, if there is one, outlines what he defines a beautiful. Please dont mix up your conception of beauty/awe at worldly creations with other things.

3. the argument between evolution and creationism from the standpoint of Science is excellent. The debate brings up points that evolution didnt happen but these points, when looked into with research (ie, bacteria flagella) it actually supports evolution. Furthermore, whether or not points support evolution, it is in good science to not ignore them but to change, if neccessary, our definition of evolution.

4. It is from the point of religion to change science that is bad. nothing like saying its a choice to believe god or evolution. (sarcasm) Science is not something you believe in like religion. From the stand point of religion, you can only argue that because this book said so, I will believe. I think personally, that is why, there are no ends to ehse religious conflicts because theres no room to reason with these people.

You have sort of answered your own question. You use the word "believe" as if it has something to do with evolution. Scientist do not "believe" in evolution, they "know" it, they have verified it, and so forth.

It is your confusion of what is known and what is not known, or rather believed, that is part of the problem. People such as you think evolution is a belief that is competing with a religious belief. Fundamentalists believe the same thing. They just see it as a non-religious belief. Both of you are wrong.

To resolve the problem the scientific community that understands evolution has got to clean up its act and stop confusing people by using the word "believe". I realize you don't mean it in a religious sense, you think it is an innocent use of the word, but those peole who are ignorant of evolution do see it in a religious sense and you are putting up the block to their seeing evolution in a non-religious sense when you use the word "believe".

Realize that people don't BELIEVE in evolution, change your confusing use of words, and move on.

Now back to your original question. Ignorance is the main reason for people discrediting evolution. But, as I pointed out, it is also a confusion in the use of the word "believe", which the scientific community continues to make the mistake of using. Scientist either know or they don't know, they don't believe.

Evolution is not just applicable to life. The whole of the biosphere evolves all the time, yet those idiot creationists believe the world is as God created it 6000+ years ago, when one can see almost from day to day that rivers are washing bits of the terrain down to the sea, and wind and waves wear beaches and cliffs down all the time.

Blind ignorance is the most dangerous force on this planet, as proved by all the suicide bombers.

And to Henry T who replied above, evolution does not necessarily discount God. If God's hand is in evolution it means he is a planner rather than some cosmic magician that plucks the world out of his armpit.

First I want to ask: how can anyone disagree with something, when they don't even know what is it? (it doesn't make sense). Most people who discredit evolution have an understanding of it. They understand that it takes more faith to believe that humans evolved from single-celled organisms than to believe that God created us in His image. Perhaps some people do not thoroughly study evolution because they immediately find the theory to be ridiculous.

I heard an arguement that said if man evolved from monkeys then why do you see monkeys around still...I really do not know what to make of it. But I think the theory tries to explain how man came to be man....I wonder if the theory can be verified...I also wonder if it actually disagrees with the scriptures if read with the right frame of mind. I think scriptures are a narration of what is witnessed over a period of time while science tries to explain them. Also it is said that god created the universe/world in 7 days...but do these 7 days refer to 7 human days? If one reads the Geetha, one sees that each day (referred to in the scripture) could refer to several thousand years. On th lighter side:
Man: God how much is a million dollar to you?
God: Just like a penny.
Man: And how much is a million years to you?
God: Just like a second.
Man: God can you give me a penny.
God: Just a second!

because they're simply imbeciles... however, it's been proved that "man" in general has an aberration towards thinking he came from apes (which is false anyway according to evolution) there's a whole theory on this, and other theories that have been rejected, like the earth being part of the universe (check epistemology)

They fear that if evolution is true, then there must be no God.

This stems from their insistence on a literal interpretation of the Bible. If they were more flexible on the Bible, they could fit evolution into Genesis like most people.

Because they have been programmed against evolution by their ministers and teachers of religion. They don't have a mind of their own, or choose not to use it.
It's a pity because the evolution theory is such an elegant one.

Couldn't resist the repartee, with all due respect.

I have studied Evolution. I know exactly what the theory is all about. I know evolution in some forms exist. However there is no evidence that evolution has ever crossed genus, species lines. That's not even to say it didn't but there is no proof that it did. You people who insist that you believe so strongly in science to establish that evolution exists and therefore that creation can't, are yourselves blinded by your lust to disbelieve. If you are so intent on strictly believing science, Why believe so adamantly in something science can't prove. You contradict yourselves. Consider this. God's works are all done by natural means. He has told us this. Is it not a possibility and even more conceivable that God guided one living thing into the next, as he did the forming of Eve from Adam's rib, Than to think all life happened by chance? Do you realize the odds of that happening? Personally, I disregard these things because we are told to. That because it is misleading and leads us down wrong paths, as you are living proof. If you choose to not believe in God that is your choice, but why believe in something that can't be proved by what you claim to believe in? Isn't that rather hypocritical?
