What Comic Book did the T.M.N.T come from?

Eastman and Laird starting publishing a black and white comic book called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles around 1985. It spawned a bunch of anthropomorphic animal rip offs like the Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters and the Pre-Teen Dirty Gene Kung Fu Kangaroos (I kid you not. There were at least dozen titles like this.)
The comic was dark in tone and incredibly violent. Not a slice of pizza in sight.
The cartoon came out around 1990. It was loosely based on the comics, but added the surfer dude personalities and multi-colored masks. It was incredibly popular and spawned the movies that came out in that decade.
The new CGI cartoon will rock. Just a feeling I have.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came from the comic book of the same name.
Most of the stuff in the comic, though, is from Daredevil (well, it's parodying Daredevil, anyway). For instance, the turtles' origin story is almost exactly the same as Daredevil's, and the turtles fight a clan of ninja known as the Foot (as opposed to the Hand, from Daredevil).

what they all said was true except for the previous answe, the turtles were their own comic and they all originally wore red masks thats why the first nintendo game shows them like that, and the first season of the newer cartoon was more like the original comic

Hhahah. really anybody yet Raphael. no one likes Raphael. He had the most ineffective weapon. Twirly forky issues? What the hell do you do with those? Michaelangelo replaced into cool because nunchuks are cool, and also you won't be able to bypass incorrect with Leonardo's twin swords, yet my favourote must be Donatello. he's were given the most astounding weapon, and is represented with the help of the colour pink. completely badass.
