I am 34 weeks pregnant and smoked pot for about two weeks, once a day, totalling about 6 hits from a bong each time. I know it was stupid. I will not do it again. I was only thinking of myself and not my baby. I realize what I did and am now fixing it but what I need is for someone to tell me if I have around 45 days left of my pregnancy will I test positive for pot when the baby is born and they test her? No insults, no jokes. If that is what you have then just go to another question because I really need and answer, please.

the better question is if your baby is gonna be OK. What were you thinking, of course your gonna get insulted here what did you expert leaving a question like that. I cant believe your wondering about if its still gonna be in your system over your child's health. How selfish of you...your gonna be a great mother...NOT!

It's o.k! take a deep breathe and calm down! No they won't test her for pot. When i was preg. with my first i did the same thing. I smoked for about the first 4 months. My baby was born healthy and on time. He weighed good and everything. So don't smoke anymore and drink plenty of water to flush your system out. Everything will be fine!! I read some other people's answers too, I've done plenty of research and doctors aren't even sure if pot does harm the fetus. so don't listen to the bitches that act like saints on this page. If you'd like to chat more about it e-mail me at lara12385@yahoo.com I know where you are coming from.

They will probably ask if you did any illicit drugs while pregnant when you are admitted. Tell them yes so they can look for abnormal signs from your baby. If what you did hurt your baby and you don't tell them the truth, the baby will go through a battery of tests for things that aren't wrong with her and cause her unnecessary stress & pain.

They won't call child protective services on you, only check your health and the health of your baby. Pot could have some serious side effects for both of you and its important the doctors know what to expect to keep you both alive & healthy.

they will test the baby, but if u quit right now u have enough time for the amount u smoked to get out of ur system. If you are "more fatty" it will take a lil more time, dont listen to any "get rid quick" ways to make it go away, they will not work. THC is stored in fat cells so try to stay away from fatty foods in the mean time. it doesnt matter how much water ir cranberry juice you drink that will not work.. TRUST ME i know what im talking about... You can go to a head shop or drug store & buy a home test kit (IT WILL WORK) that way the closer u are to delivery U can make sure nothing is in ur system & then u can relax & no that ur clean by then. I also was a pot smoker & i am 7 weeks pregnant But u need to quit NOW. good luck

Well if you are 34 weeks pregnant you could be cutting it kind of close. THC will stay in your babies system for up to 30 days. Just hope that you dont go into labor in the next 2 weeks or your baby will probably test positive. If you go the full 40 weeks then you might have a chance but there is no gurantees.

First off you need to let your OB/GYN know that you was messing with drugs while pregnant so they can get you and the baby help. Second, drug use while pregnant is child abuse. Most likely you will lose the baby until you get clean and can stay clean. They will have to call social services on you for that. Also, did you know what smoking "pot" does to the unborn baby? Here is what it does:marijuana contains toxins that keep your baby from getting the proper supply of oxygen that is needed to grow. You also have a great chance of having a premature baby, a low birth weight baby, a baby with developmental delays, and behavioral and or learning delays. Since it sounds like you was a frequent user it can be detected up to almost 30 days after the last time you smoked. You may test positive so dont get your hopes up on testing negative

I'm not sure how fast pot leaves your system or the babies. I think you should be worried though, not because of what can happen to you if the baby test positive, however, be worried about the birth defects you could you have caused your unborn child. I pray that all is well with you and your baby. But next time think first!!!

First don't worry too much about "damaging" your baby. My mother smoked pot through her entire pregnancy with me.

My best friend did with both her children, and they are 100% fine.

A friend of mine's mom did it through THREE pregnancies, and all three of her children are ok, happy healthy adults...

If you've got 45 days, YOUR system will indeed be clean. If they don't have reason to believe you were doing "drugs" during pregnancy, most likely they won't even test your baby. Then again, state laws differ and they may or may not test her. I have been told about "Meconium Drug Tests". I will look up some information and add it to the bottom when I find it.

I have been told by one doctor that if your baby tests positive for THC, that a counselor will come talk to you after delivery, to basically tell you "drugs are bad, mkay?" and that is that. If you basically commited a "one time offense" you should be fine. I seriously highly doubt CPS is going to snatch your child away for a little ganja use. Now, if you gave birth and your kid was wired on crack, I promise the results would be a little more severe.

But my best friend smoked a joint on the way to the hospital (in addition to the every day use), and she didn't even have it brough up during or after her delivery.

I was going to a women's clinic, where they piss tested me, and mentioned that *gasp* there was THC in my urine. They told me that someone would "talk" to me about it, if I continued to use up until delivery. And another mother said there is a chance (though slight) that someone might make a housecall to insure you have groceries in the fridge, running water and electricity. If you seem like a fit parent, they CAN'T do anything, especially if your child is healthy.

If they ask you, tell them it was a one time thing. That should cut the conversation short.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant, I smoked marijuana up until 20 weeks. I quit for pretty much the slight chance that it might become an issue, though I doubt it will be. My baby has been developing well, putting on weight exactly as he's supposed to, has a very strong heart, and is pretty active... None of these "shriveled fetus" ideas that the doctors have tried to scare me with...

It's not as dangerous as they try to say it is. Alot of people still have the "reefer madness" idea going on. It's very uninformed and ignorant. In some countries, women are actually prescribed to smoke marijuana for morning sickness... In some other countries, women smoke marijuana because the end result is stronger, healthier babies that are more likely to survive. It's all a cultural thing, and our culture is against it. Just like our culture tries to get you to give your child formula instead of breast milk. Just like our culture says it's ok, even NECESSARY to mutilate the male genitalia... The list goes on. I believe more in personal decisions and responsibility. My life experience says that marijuana is NOT harmful, if used in moderation. And your use Definitely falls under the "moderate" category.

Don't worry about it, hon. I'm sure everything will be fine.

You will be alright. Just don't smoke anymore!!!!!!!! People make mistakes. Don't let the people on this site bite your head off for it. I actually know a lot of people that smoked when they were pregnant. And there kids came out fine. But I wouldn't push it. They only smoked every once in a while.

You will be fine. It only stays in the system for 30 days. Just dont do it again!!! They do test babies for drugs at birth, but nothing should show up. I knew a girl whose baby tested positive at birth and they just did home check-ups on her and the baby to make sure no illegal drugs were present. Good Luck!!
