I'm not so sure anymore.
When I was younger, I used to blush and then curse when people outed my crush. A year or two ago, it used to be when people outed the fact that I keep my pubic hair nice, neat, and nonexistent.

I blush at the drop of a hat.
If I'm happy, sad, mad or laughing I turn red as a beet.
As a result I can't tell a lie or else I'll turn red as a cherry.

To answer your question: When I say something stupid in public the realize what I said and try to take it back....well then I turn red and curse!
