Actually... A LOT has been cleaned up. In Mississippi, the debris is almost pretty much gone (on the beach). It's just a huge stretch of empty land. As for rebuilding...that has started slowly but surely.

I don't really know. A good bit of Harrison County (the middle Mississippi coastal county) has been picked up. I don't know about New Orleans, Alabama, or the other counties yet. I've been staying close to home lately.

Most of the victims just abandoned New Orleans. They didn't try to rebuild.
But, if you are interested in lending a hand, I'm sure there are missionary groups that go there or better to try the Red Cross. I'll bet they would be able to tell you how to go about it.

It is the same reason that the many millions of dollars in modular homes purchased by FEMA are sitting in an Arkansas field. They will not pull any of their own strings to do it.

i would be impossible to build back new orleans to its original state.
look at galveston.
go search for the great storm of 1900

because the people that should be cleaning it up ( the people that lived there) are out spending there govt checks.
