His colleague Richard Roeper has been doing this weird experiment with anybody and everybody coming on to do film criticism. Last week Jay Leno took a stab at film criticism.

I used to value Ebert's film reviews, but he's gone downhill lately. I still watch his program, but I no longer value his views on movies like I once did. The opinons I now look up to, as far as film reviews are concerned, are on radio station KPCC. The radio station has a Friday radio show called Film Week. Usually two critics rotate on the show with a bunch of other people, with a animation critic, if there is an animated feature about to be reviewed..

I do watch Ebert and Roeper but I like to make up my own mind when I go to see a movie. Film criticism is a personal choice. What one person likes another can dislike. There is enough publicity and talk shows about the new movies to give you an idea of what it's all about anyway. I prefer interviews with the actors than just critics.

Roger Ebert is undergoing cancer surgery. That's about all I know. His former partner, Gene Siskel, died quite a number of years prior, also due to cancer.

I do know that Ebert is a long time friend of Jay Leno's and asked him to take his place for a short while. Other than that, all I can say is keep in tune to the news and media.

He underwent surgery Friday, June 16, 2006, just two days shy of his 64th birthday, to remove a cancerous growth on his salivary gland.

He was quoted as saying, "This is known as a slow growing and persistent cancer. You live with it." On July 2, 2006, Ebert was hospitalized in serious condition after a blood vessel burst near the surgery site.

He currently remains hospitalized but is recovering.

I read his snippets of movies in Entertainment Weekly and I agree I don't think he's up to par. I don't think he's dying, he had surgery on his cancerous salivary gland. This is the 2nd one, so I feel for the poor guy.
