William Duke of Normandy, later known as William the Conqueror, first Plantagenet King of England. Imagine an England evolving into a germanic culture under the Saxons. The history of the last millenium would undoubtedly be quite different.

there are way too many to even start - einstein, because of what he discovered... mlk, because of civil rights ... edison w/electricity; alexandrer bell, the phone; bill gates, microsoft...there are tons of important people, and many more to come (hopefully) and I loved the answer about bush (previous to mine!)

thats impossible to answer, there are far too many people in too many fields. if one, Leonardo Divinci, because he at least spurred many inventors behind him to make his ideas come to life.he experimented in engineering, art and medicine so he at least covered a wide span of ideas.
