I know it was'nt Punxsatawney,PA. I'm from that area and have lived in the town a couple of times.

Woodstock, Illinois also some was filmed in Indiana, Pennsylvania..i have added a link for you and if you scroll to the bottom where it says development of movie you can find out all about the filming!..hope this was use full to you..i used to watch this movie all the time i still like it,its really funny!

Actually, most of it was filmed in Woodstock, Illinois; and some in nearby Indiana, Pennsylvania.
