I was getting a similar problem and after blaming the WAP, and then my laptop, I finally figured out that for me, the problem was my ISP sending me duff DNS responses:

Click Start, Run, type CMD, click OK and type in:
ipconfig /flushdns
and press enter

The reason switching your WAP off and on achieves the same result would be because your PC/laptop gets its IP address from a DHCP service running on the WAP - switching it off and on causes your PC/laptop to re-negotiate an IP address which incidentally clears the DNS cache as well.

If this is a regular problem, run notepad (Start, Run, notepad)
type in ipconfig /flushdns
then click on File, Save As, change the name to DNS_Flush.bat and save it on your desktop.
In future, you can just double-click on this file on your desktop to sort it out.

Hi, as per your question I am able to guess that you are using Broadband Internet with Wireless Broadband modem. Do you have any idea what is the config like security key etc?? cos this will make you to often getting reconnected if the authentication fails.

Better you have to examine the config of the Wireless broadband Modem.

Regular PC or laptop? You could just be losing the signal temporarily, or, sometimes the lines are just overloaded with users. Certain times of the day, weekends and holidays are busy.

Happens to me all the time.
The signal just dies. Nothing you can really do to change it.
It will happen once and while and then once you turn it on and off...it will work.
