In Oregon, on Oregon Medicaid, both parents not married, no income, (students), but living together. Is it better not to put father's name on birth Certificate so Medicaid does not come after the father for birth costs? (IF they do come after the father for costs) Thanks for all your info.

no medicaid is all about how much money is coming in to your home, it's not about if your married or not, if you love this person you should put his name on it. he desevers that.i'm married and got medicaid and food stamps, i didn't have to lie it was based on the income of the house.and if you get it it pays back 30 days.so if you have went to the doctor without it in the last 30 days it will pay.

In Texas if you are not married and have low or no income the mother can be on Medicaid. The father would not be charged for the medical bills because you are not married.

The father of your child DEFINATELY needs to be put on the birth certificate! You and he may be wonderful today but for your child's future, just in case wonderful is not forever, put him on the BC. It will make it easier to collect child support in the future.

I think you should put your child's father name on the birth certificate. I'm not sure if they will make him repay, I have never heard of them doing this however I'm not from Oregon.

Please put your name of the birth certificate.
You need to protect yourself and you rights as this childs father.
As far as Medicaid yes they could come after you for payment if you are making above what is considered the states poverty level

It's silly not to put your name on the birth certificate. It would be tantamount to denying your child.

I don't think that they'd come after you, even if you decided to get married and get a job, unless they discovered fraud of some kind(like reporting no income when you really had one).

if you BOTH are on it then NO. If she is and you aren't then you will have to pay like $1,500 I beleive. Even if you live together they see it has someone has to pay and if neither of you are stable enough to pay then medicade will pay your $1,500. Goodluck and congrats
AND FOR THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE---
Either way it doesn't matter. You want your child to have that for when they get older. SO YES PUT YOUR NAME ON IT!
