Is Freedom A Lie In California and Texas??

Question

Mexicans in California And Texas who were descendants from the Spanish in California are not allowed to speak spanish in land that we have lived in for eleven generatons??

USA took California and Texas with the pretext of freedom. Mexicans/Spanish and Indians lived in California and Texas before anyone else.

Now there are other immigrant groups from overseas that tell mexicans/spanish or indians that live in California and Texas for eleven generations that they can't speak our own language in California or Texas??

People from the Philipines or Somoa have complained that we should not speak spanish or indian in Calfornia even though we lived there for generatons??

What happened to freedom?? California and Texas is part of the USA and we should at least be allowed to speak our language.

I guess freedom was a lie. It is only a pretext.

Who said that you could not speak Spanish? There is no law for that. But I do feel that if you live in America you should speak English. If you want to speak Spanish also, go ahead. But English should be taught to all people who come to America.

Unless I missed some new today the government in those states still allow you to speak any language you want. Has some one been arrested for speaking Spanish? Because some one says they do not want you to do something does not mean your freedom has been taken away
I live in So cal and I not only hear lots of Spanish I also see adds in Spanish, Korean, Japanese, etc. On last thing if you have lived in the United States so long is not English the language of your country?
If its so hard here because someone from Samoa wants you to speak English you could move back to Mexico or Spain and try out the freedoms they have to offer.
People often miss the fact that its freedom for all not just you. Just because you may not like the other persons view does not mean the "took your freedom" because they said you should speak a different language.

You are allowed to speak any language you want to! BUT, don't think everyone else should have a paid interpreter standing by or everything printed in every language on earth just because you don't speak the national language. When foreign countries have signs posted in their language & english, it is usually found in tourist or business areas where it is profitable for them to make things convieniant to english speaking guests- but it is NOT expected or required. Hope this does not offend- but I feel that is where most of the unsympathetic feelings toward spanish speaking folks are being generated from- this concept that we are obligated to make special considerations for them. By the way - I am over 1/2 native American and I didn't see anyone providing translations in Choctow for my Granny! And she NEVER asked!

funny, but i live in texas and i hear spanish being spoken all the time. matter of fact it's now a requirement to take two years spanish, or another foreign language, in high school, most people elect to take spanish. all of the government phone services are available in spanish as are many of the utility phone services. signs in stores are in both languages and we even have spanish as a first language taught in most of our schools.

In highschool I took 3 years of Spanish, as do most american high school students.

It's simple: Learn the language.
