"The sound was so sorrowful, so beautiful and spoke to us in a way that is impossible to describe."
Thanks for the answer. This describes exactly what I feel from the sounds. It's an uncontrollable feeling yet I can't describe it. Just makes you want to cry like you witnessed something big and beautiful.

Because it is a lost talent, and it is so rare to hear it played. I love the bagpipes!

What makes the bagpipes such a unique instrument is the drones: the two tenors and the bass.
And the scale played on the chanter (the fingers part of the pipes) doesn't fit a typical Western scale but instead the notes match the harmonics (overtones) of the drones creating a resonance that is unlike any other musical instrument.
It really grips a person in a primal way. Magical stuff!

Yes, as a matter of fact I was an actor at a local Renaissance faire for many years.
When one of our long time fellow thespians passed on, we all attended his funeral.
After the devotions and eulogies were given at the end of the service a fellow cast member who is also a bagpipe player started playing his pipes.
Like the good actors we are, on que everyone of us there began to cry.
The sound was so sorrowful, so beautiful and spoke to us in a way that is impossible to describe.

Definetly the bagpipes As to the conflict elephants- they do no longer look to be so poor. Scipio Africanus panicked them at Zama by applying having his troops play trumpets. possibly previous Scipio had scottish pipers in is ranks? i substitute into in Glasgow for the time of a Highland pageant- some 5 thousand bagpipers from around the international playing at as quickly as. And the floor substitute into shaking!

Not bagpipes, but a harp has that effect on me. Maybe you heard someone play a sad song on the bagpipes when you were younger and it still affects you.

Maybe in a past life you had some terrible experience while listening to bagpipes and it is coming to the surface of your consciousness when you hear them in this life.
