I went to a high school soccer tournament, and the girls' games had all kinds of people yelling and cheering at them. The guys' games had much fewer people at them, and nobody was even cheering. I was yelling for one team, and everybody was staring at me. Now professors are saying that girls are showing up for college and just seem more motivated, while the boys seem deflated and uninterested. Are we discriminating against a bunch of guys who never owned slaves and never turned a person away from a job because they were female?

I don't know about the rest of it, but I know why girl's teams get cheered on more. Because girls bring all of their friends to their games with them. (In high school anyway) When all their friends are there, there's just more people to cheer for them. :)P

But maybe society does favor girls a bit. Honestly, though, haven't statistics shown that girls tend to do better in school? I, for one, (speaking as a high schooler) notice a lot more girls speaking up in class than guys. Truthfully, there are some really smart guys in my classes. But they are few and far between. Most guys just want to talk and flirt, and tend to be in trouble as much as or more than girls for disrupting class.

Maybe guy's and girl's roles are reversing a bit. Girls used to be the ones to talk it up, and get in trouble for it. Now it's guys. Plus, surely you've seen the new 'emo' fashions, where guys do up their hair with hairspray and make it 'flippy', and wear girl's clothing. Maybe that's a completely isolated trend, maybe not.

Things in life swing back and forth. Sometimes from one extreme to the other....the goal being to end up near the middle. At this time it may seem as though white males are getting the short end but that's because for centuries before they reigned supreme and females and minorities were discriminated against.

No group should be discriminated against or favored over another group.....but what goes around comes around.

There's still a long way to go still.......watch any sport where there are men and women's teams and you'll see not much has changed. Men make more money get better endorsements, more exposure. Save your tears.

No... there isn't discrimination and that all depends on what games you go to. I'm sure this happened at your high school but until you've visited and studied or gotten stats about other schools and the support that is given to girls and/or boys then it's not fair to make that comment.

Some would say the exact opposite so it all depends on your school and the town you are in. Maybe the girls are just more exciting than the guys are in tournaments.

It does seem that way, however, I have not came across any substantial statistics in regards to this theory.

However, with so many divorces, and single mothers it also appears that the "Feminist movement" has chased the men away, leaving women to program little boys heads with what they have experienced and understand --- which unfortunately is abandonment and bitterness ... however, this is a two way street ... Dad's need to show up and support their boys, and women need to stop being full throttle on feminism.

By and large, there is a crusade against masculinity, and there's too much "girls team and boys team" stuff, in order to be "fair." Now, it appears to even be leaning to cheering for girls.

When I went to school, for example, girls basketball was mostly a joke, but today they have to have the girls team and boys team, and I think it borders on being rather odd to see girl cheerleaders cheering for girls teams. I'm not going to elaborate any more on this, but I think you understand what I'm saying. I believe that the system doesn't want male heroes as much as it wants a supposed "equal and fair system," but it's wrong in my opinion.
